The Challenge

Everyone who runs projects rebuilds the same folder tree by hand, every time, slightly differently. The inconsistency stays invisible until you need to find something in a job from two years ago.

The Solution

Templates as first-class objects. Nineteen structures ship with the app, each one editable, with placeholders that resolve client and project names at build time so a tree can be stamped into several destinations at once without a rename pass afterwards.

Impact

Published to the Microsoft Store with no account, no analytics, no advertising and no network capability. Presets and settings never leave the device.

Building the app

FolderForge is a C# Windows application built around a single idea: the folder structure is the project, and it should exist before the work does. Pick a template, name the job, choose one or more destinations, and the whole tree is written at once.

Templates carry placeholders that resolve at build time, so a structure written for one client stamps cleanly for the next without renaming anything. Custom presets sit alongside the nineteen built-in ones, stored locally. The app was written in collaboration with Claude Opus 5 from Anthropic and GPT-5.6 Sol from OpenAI, then packaged as MSIX for Store distribution.

The commercial

Thirty seconds on the quiet cost of building the same folder tree by hand.

Making the commercial

Cast and key shots were generated with GPT Image 2 from a fixed continuity reference, then animated with Kling 3.0 image-to-video. Narration came from ElevenLabs.

As with every product spot in this series, the application frames are the real interface rather than generated approximations. A commercial for a piece of software is also documentation of it, and the folder tree on screen is the one the app actually writes.
